I am Nínive Guarim!

Welcome to my Background page!

I have been working with translation and localization for the past 12 years, as a Localization Project Manager for the past 8, and I have joined the Videogame Industry almost 5 years ago. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Linguistics from USP, and I am taking a Brand Manager specialization from EBAC.

My passions are Languages and Entertainment, especially Videogames, Animes, and TV shows.

Playing: Starfield, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, Nightingale, ESO.

Watching: Doctor Who New Series, Frieren: Beyond Journey's End.

Background

My journey as a translator began in 2011 when I started my History Bachelor. I had just completed my English Professionalization Course at Yázigi, and I was ready to face the world – or so I thought. Although I’ve learned a lot by myself, whether working or researching, my passion for languages and communication made itself obvious, driving me to quit History and join the Linguistics Department as a once again new student in 2015.

It was in 2016 that TransPerfect offered me the opportunity to start my path as a Localization and Translation Project Manager. After this experience, I am proud to say I became an Office and a CAT Tool specialist, ready to decipher their secrets and take the best those softwares have to offer. Not only that, I had the chance to learn about multiple subject matters and document types, plus quality control and quality assurance procedures that I still implement on a daily basis.

As I said previously, I am passionate about entertainment, and I had the privilege to join this industry in 2019 as Free Fire Brazil’s Localization and QA Specialist at Garena. To work as both a linguist and as a project manager, and later as a team lead, was definitely a completely new experience to me. I had the chance to learn about production, development, marketing, branding, data analysis, customer support, and so many other areas that I hope I can discuss more in the future here.

When I left Garena, I was a completely different professional – more experienced, with an enriched know-how, as well as with new interests and dreams. So, in 2023, I joined the Core Dream Studio as their Localization Lead, working on a hybrid role as both a Client-Facing Project Manager and a Linguistics Specialist. Now, I have the chance to work with different products from different developers and publishers, learning more every day about the beautiful mysteries and secrets of Video Game Localization.

I continue to work as a Freelance Translator, so if need the help of an experienced Linguist, please contact me at ninive.guarim@gmail.com or through this website.
